IAM4 has developed extensive knowledge about the translation of legal texts in unambiguous interpretation based on the methods and tools it has developed. Many improvements have been recognized and have been implemented in several ways.
First of all in assignments for and with customers. This is surely the most important way of innovation, because it is directly linked to issues in practice. Together with customers and partners IAM4 develops in innovation.
In the development of its software a lot of innovation takes place as well making the method and faster and more effective. Reduction of administrative tasks during the use of the method and the different ways in which the knowledge in the models can be approached.
Of course we also run into issues that are so fundamental or abstract that they require more fundamental research. IAM4 stives for intensive cooperation with universities and especially with their legal informatics departments. With the Leibniz Center for Law of the University of Amsterdam intensive cooperation has taken place and also with the Zuyd University of Applied Sciences joint research projects take place.
In recent years IAM4 has been involved in several large research programs:
- POWER (Programma Ondersteuning Wet- en Regelgeving)
In this project the basis for our present method and tools has been developed.Under the 7th Framework program of the EU a subsidy of 2 million Euro was granted to an international consortium that extended this project under the name ePower. - Agile Service Development (ASD)
Project of TNO / Novay for agility in financial services.
IAM4 contributed to the project with the way in which financial products can be modeled in a product model and logic that can be directly executed.
- Essence
Project of Novay / TNO for semantic interoperability.
Aim was to come to a working process and ‘language’ for the exchange of information between organizations.
IAM4 contributed with the definition af the semantic context from legislation. This is after all the context from which many data of the government arise.
